China Minmetals suggests social responsibility approach for mining rights

China Minmetals Group chairman Zhou Zhongsu has lately stated that, in order to improve domestic regulations for mining rights allocation, mineral resources should be allocated to enterprises with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Mr Zhou suggested the Chinese authorities should additionally set up a related mechanism such as a regulatory system for the dynamic assessment of social responsibility of enterprises. He pointed out that some domestic enterprises have used unfair means to acquire mining rights.

China Minmetals Corporation, founded in 1950, is a large scale group operating worldwide in development, production and trading of metals and minerals. It is also engaged in finance, real estate and logistics.
