The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in June this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 127.3164 million mt, up 10.48 percent month on month, valued at $7.937 billion. In the January-June period of the current year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 738.7819 million mt, valued at $54.007 billion.
In June this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 77.0744 million mt and 28.6612 million mt respectively, up 7.4 percent and 34 percent month on month, with respective values of $4.693 billion and $1.908 billion. In the January-June period of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 444.2809 million mt and 152.5055 million mt, valued at $32.194 billion and $1.183 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of Indian iron ore in June amounted to 3.0315 million mt, down 26.45 percent month on month, valued at $243 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 18.5492 million mt, valued at $1.093 billion. In the January-June period of the current year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from India and other countries amounted to 27.7806 million mt and 114.215 million mt, valued at $1.909 billion and $8.07 billion, respectively.
