The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in June this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 107.4584 million mt, up 5.69 percent month on month, valued at $6.699 billion. In the first six months of the year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 625.6575 million mt, valued at $39.594 billion.
In June this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 71.0037 million mt and 20.5193 million mt respectively, up 14.75 percent and decreasing by 13.30 percent month on month, with respective values of $4.259 billion and $1.434 billion. In the first six months of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 394.6285 million mt and 124.8037 million mt, valued at $24.368 billion and $8.413 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in June amounted to 4.8765 million mt, up 7.66 percent month on month, valued at $312 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 1.9521 million mt, valued at $105 million. In the first six months, the import licenses issued for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 28.1833 million mt and 21.3592 million mt, valued at $1.929 billion and $1.153 billion, respectively.
