The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in November this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 105.5633 million mt, up 15.08 percent month on month, valued at $5.729 billion. In the January-November period of the year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 1.14834 trillion mt, valued at $69.545 billion.
In November this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 66.0249 million mt and 25.0767 million mt respectively, up 19.47 percent and rising by 15.07 percent month on month, with respective values of $3.521 billion and $1.432 billion. In the January-November period of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 728.3979 million mt and 234.4382 million mt, valued at $43.155 billion and $15.001 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in November amounted to 4.8496 million mt, down 28.89 percent month on month, valued at $286 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 1.6436 million mt, valued at $83 million. In the January-November period of the year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 51.0642 million mt and 34.9501 million mt, valued at $3.322 billion and $1.865 billion, respectively.
