China issues iron ore import licenses for 105 million mt in June

On July 14, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced that in June this year China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 104.9787 million mt, up 5.34 percent month on month, valued at $10.073 billion. In the first six months of the year, iron ore import licenses were issued for a total of 628.4968 million mt, valued at $70.877 billion.
 
In June this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 63.5453 million mt and 16.9483 million mt respectively, up 8.48 percent and down 2.23 percent month on month. In the January-June period, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 346.2757 million mt and 112.857 million mt respectively.
 
Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in the given month amounted to 5.9178 million mt, up 56.83 percent, valued at $631 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 5.2719 million mt, valued at $491 million. In the January-June period, the import licenses issued by China for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 30.8785 million mt and 35.9026 million mt respectively.
