China exports 879,664 mt of steel scrap in January-August

In August this year, China exported 411,220 mt of scrap, indicating a sharp rise compared to the 79 mt of scrap exports in August 2016, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-August period of the current year, China exported 879,664 mt of scrap, compared to just 726 mt of scrap exports in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, China imported 140,000 mt of scrap in August this year, while it imported 190,000 mt of scrap in August last year. In January-August of this year, China imported 1.59 million mt of scrap, up 17.7 percent year on year, while it imported 1.35 million mt of scrap in the same period of last year.
