Chilean rebar sales show sixth consecutive decline in June

Chilean rebar sales in June declined 30 percent, year-on-year, and 13.4 percent, month-on-month, according to data released on Wednesday by the nation’s civil construction chamber, CChC.

Rebar sales in June totaled 34,276 mt, the lowest level since October 2010, when shipments of the product reached 30,631 mt.

Since January this year, the country’s sales of rebar have been on a declining trend. In May, shipments of the product have reached the lowest level since April 2011, but since June’s results were even lower, the industry set a new record, which is only surpassed by October 2010.

Chilean rebar sales in H1 totaled 250,348 mt, down from 300,792 mt a year ago.
