Chilean rebar sales in May reach lowest level in four years

Chilean rebar sales declined 2.4 percent in May, month-on-month, and 27.7 percent year-on-year, setting a new record in four years.

According to recent data from the nation’s civil construction chamber, CChC, domestic sales of rebar have been declining since the beginning of the year, reaching 39,577 mt in May, the lowest level since April 2011, when shipments of the product totaled 38,255 mt.

According to CChC, rebar sales for the January-May period totaled 216,071 mt, well below the 251,818 mt sold last year in the same period.
