According to Sichuan-based Chinese steelmaker Pangang Group, in 2011 its Jiangyou, Sichuan-based subsidiary Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel Co. produced 166,200 mt of crude steel and 576,300 mt of finished steel, and recorded an industrial output value of RMB 7.5 billion ($1.19 billion).

Meanwhile, in the current year Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel plans to produce 320,000 mt of crude steel and 830,000 mt of finished steel, thereby almost doubling its crude steel output. In addition, it is targeting an industrial output value of RMB 8 billion ($1.27 billion) in the given year.

On April 9, 2010, the National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) of China approved a reconstruction project for Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel following the damage caused by the massive earthquake which hit Sichuan Province in May 2008. According to the project, the company targeted a preliminary annual production capacity of 790,000 mt of finished steel and a sales revenue of RMB 13.4 billion ($2.127 billion).
