Certain Japanese mills to raise rebar prices in August

Japan-based steelmaker Tokyo D-Bar Steel has announced that it will increase its rebar prices by $38/mt in August. Current prices in the Tokyo rebar market are heard at around $781/mt.
 
Reconstruction work after the earthquake and tsunami disaster which hit Japan on March 11 this year is expected to provide support for domestic rebar prices, while local scrap prices are also expected to rise after the summer, thereby providing cost support for the rebar market.
 
Meanwhile, Japan's biggest rebar producer Kyoei Steel is due to publish its price policy for August, with an increase in its prices anticipated.
