During the first meeting on the economic and financial situation in 2010 held on January 26 by the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), commission chairman Liu Mingkang urged banks in China to exert reasonable control over new lending, to manage the pace of lending well and to try to achieve steady growth of loans quarter by quarter.

Mr. Liu also stressed that 2010 will be a year of continuing arduous recovery and adjustment for the global financial market which, as he said, is still full of complexities and uncertainties.
