The Australian iron ore company Cape Lambert Iron Ore Limited (Cape Lambert) has announced that it has been granted an exploration license for its Cape Lambert South project in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

The exploration license allows Cape Lambert to progress to drill test the 3 km-long magnetic anomaly located in the Cape Lambert South license area. Currently, the company is scheduling a native title heritage clearance of proposed drill collars for early October.

Meanwhile, Cape Lambert has procured a drill rig which is scheduled to commence drilling in middle to late October.

The initial reverse circulation drilling program, which is expected to be completed inside three months, has been developed to confirm the presence of magnetite iron mineralization, while the second, infill program is planned to commence in March/April 2009 and will enable determination of a mineral resource estimate.
