Canadian rig count continues to rise as US count continues to drop

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 5 the US rig count decreased by seven to 868, after a 10-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by three to 222, whereas the oil rig count decreased by four to 642. The overall rig count is down by 992 from 1,860 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 18 in the week ending June 5 to 116, after a 26-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 98 from 214 rigs during the same week a year ago.
