Canadian architectural price index declines in Q1

According to Statistics Canada, the Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) declined 0.7 percent in the first quarter compared with the previous quarter, as a result of lower prices for engineering services (-0.7 percent) and surveying and mapping services (-2.0 percent). Prices for architectural and landscape architectural services edged up 0.3 percent from the previous quarter.

Year over year, the aggregate AESPI edged down 0.3 percent as a result of lower prices for engineering services (-0.7 percent) and for surveying and mapping services (-0.4 percent), which offset higher prices for architectural and landscape architectural services (+2.5 percent).
