Mississauga, Ontario-based Samuel, Son & Co., Limited announced Friday that it is investing more than $16 million in an expansion project to be completed over the next 12 months at its Winnipeg, Manitoba facility. The announcement came today from Tom McGrogan, president of Samuel Canadian Service Centers.
The project includes a 25,000 square foot expansion to the current 88,000 square foot facility. It is intended specifically to house a Bradbury Cut-to-Length line capable of producing product from coil up to .500 thick x 96” wide in lengths up to 50 feet. This line will be further enhanced with a new BuTech Bliss Stretcher Leveler capable of generating stress and memory free product up to 85,000psi yield strength. Increased lifting capacity will also be added to the facility providing the opportunity to process from coils weighing up to 80,000lbs.
In addition, Samuel is also upgrading its existing heavy gauge Cut-to-Length line in Winnipeg by adding a new Precision Leveler from Herr-Voss Stamco equipped with the new Veritas Drive™ Technology. Capacity of this line will be up to .250 thick x 72” wide at 75,000psi yield strength and will provide improved shape correction beyond that of traditional roller-leveling. This upgraded line will complement the new stretcher leveler.
“These additions and upgrades to our levelling capability show our commitment to the Winnipeg market and will allow us to provide the most consistent quality product available in the industry today,” said McGrogan. “The added processing capacity delivers the level of service that our customers deserve and have grown to expect from Samuel.”
The first phase of this project is expected to be complete by August 2014.
