Canadian rig count finally lifts as US count continues to climb

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending May 16 the US rig count increased by six to 1,861, following a one-rig decrease the week before.  The rig count is still up by 86 from 1,769 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by three to 1,531, whereas the gas rig count also increased by three to 326.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count finally increased in the week ending May 16, by eight to reach 153 following an 18-rig decrease the previous week.  However, the Canadian rig count is still up 30 from 123 rigs during the same week a year ago.
