Canadian government pledges $1.5 million for metal fabrication facility at Port of Belledune

The Port of Belledune in New Brunswick, Canada will receive $1.5 million in government funds for the construction of a steel fabrication facility that will produce and store pre-assembled steel units. The new structure will house 20-metric ton overhead cranes as well as welding stations and other steel fabrication equipment.

According to a statement posted on the Port of Belledune's website, "with this new multimodal transshipment capacity, the Port of Belledune will be able to take advantage of shortsea shipping opportunities all along the eastern seaboard."
