Canada’s Empire Industries sells steel fabrication businesses

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Empire Industries Ltd., a specialized engineered products manufacturer, announced Tuesday that it has completed the sale of its Empire Iron Works structural steel fabrication operations in Winnipeg and its Hopkins Steel Works facility in Welland, Ontario, effective December 31, 2011. Empire sold the two steel fabrication operations to the Supreme Group, one of Canada's largest steel fabrication companies for $3.8 million.

Empire still maintains its other fabrication facilities, including: Empire Iron Works in Edmonton and its Dynamic Structures facility in Port Coquitlam. Empire also announced that it plans to introduce imported fabricated steel into the Alberta industrial market through its joint venture in China.
