CAAM: China’s passenger vehicle output up 7.8 percent in January-May

In May this year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 1.6769 million units and 1.6093 million units, decreasing by 4.4 percent and 3.6 percent month on month, while up 1.7 percent and 1.2 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the January-May period, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China amounted to 8.7405 million units and 8.5832 million units, up 7.8 percent and 6.4 percent year on year, respectively.

As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in May amounted to 287,300 units and 294,500 units, down 11.8 percent and 9.6 percent month on month, while decreasing by 11.9 percent and 8.3 percent year on year, respectively. In the January-May period, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles totaled 1.5038 million units and 1.4631 million units, down 17.4 percent and 17.3 percent year on year, respectively.

In May, China's auto export volume totaled 70,800 units, up 15 percent month on month, but down 7.3 percent year on year, including 38,100 passenger vehicles and 32,700 commercial vehicles, up 19.4 percent and 10.4 percent month on month, while down 11 percent and 2.4 percent year on year, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the January-May period, China's auto export volume amounted to 316,200 units, down 13 percent year on year, including 174,900 passenger vehicles and 141,300 commercial vehicles, down 18.8 percent and 4.6 percent on year-on-year basis, respectively.
