CAAM: China's auto output up 7.9 percent in January-October

In October this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 2.0442 million units and 1.9872 million units, up 1.9 percent and 0.2 percent month on month respectively, while rising by 6.7 percent and 2.8 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the first 10 months of the year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 19.2701 million units and 18.9881 million units, up 7.9 percent and 6.6 percent year on year respectively, with these growth rates 5.7 and 6.9 percentage points lower compared to the same period last year.

In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in October this year totaled 1.7578 million units and 1.7089 million units, increasing by 1.9 percent and 0.8 percent month on month respectively, while up 10.4 percent and 6.4 percent year on year. In the January-October period of the year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 16.1439 million units and 15.8644 million units, up 11.2 percent and 9.8 percent year on year, respectively.

As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in October this year amounted to 286,400 units and 278,300 units, up 1.3 percent and down 3.2 percent month on month, while decreasing by 11.7 percent and 14.9 percent on year-on-year basis, respectively. In the first 10 months, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles in China amounted to 3.1262 million mt and 3.1237 million mt, down 6.3 percent and 7.1 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, also in October, China's auto export volume amounted to 73,500 units, down 5.9 percent month on month and decreasing by 18 percent year on year, including 43,700 passenger vehicles and 29,800 commercial vehicles, down 9.7 percent and up 0.3 percent on month-on-month basis, while decreasing by 25.3 percent and 4.2 percent year on year, respectively. In the first 10 months of the year, China's auto export volume totaled 736,400 units, down 8.7 percent year on year.
