According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first half of the current year decreased to 58,388, down 27.4 percent from 80,395 registered during the same period of the previous year. In the first half of 2013, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 58,305.
In the January-June period this year, the value of the buildings in question fell by 22.9 percent percent year on year to TRY 75.62 billion ($34.9 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits recorded a decrease of 27.7 percent to 423,360, both year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first six months the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey decreased by 26.8 percent to 51,951 buildings, compared to the first half of 2014.
