Building permits in Turkey up one percent in 2012

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in 2012 increased to 102,986, up one percent from 101,999 registered during the previous year. However, in 2010 the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits was 139,422.

In 2012, the value of the buildings in question increased by 28.4 percent year on year to TRY 104.25 billion ($57.76 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 745,872, up 14.3 percent from 2011.

Meanwhile, last year the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey decreased by 4.8 percent to 93,832 buildings compared to 2011.
