According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first half of the current year increased to 74,214, up 24.6 percent from 59,551 registered during the same period of the previous year. In the first half of 2012, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 51,358.
In January-June this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 50.4 percent year on year to TRY 88.3 billion ($40.7 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 525,520, up 27.4 percent, both year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first six months the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 34.5 percent to 70,395 buildings, compared to the first half of 2013.
