British construction orders up 2.6 percent in January from December

In January this year, the output volume of Great Britain's construction industry decreased by 3.1 percent year on year and rose by 2.6 percent compared to December 2014, according to a report released by the UK-based Office for National Statistics (ONS). In January, new works in the British construction industry declined by 2.7 percent, while repair and maintenance was down 3.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, in the fourth quarter of 2014 Great Britain's new construction orders decreased by 2.9 percent compared to the third quarter of 2014. In the fourth quarter, orders for public new housing decreased by 2.6 percent, while orders for private new housing declined by 5.7 percent, both compared to the previous quarter.
