Brazil’s iron ore export volume rises in December

Brazil's iron ore export value in December 2011 remained stable compared to the previous month and rose by 3.8 percent compared to the same month of 2010, totaling $3.7 billion, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 34 million mt in December, with a rise of seven percent compared to November 2011 and increasing by six percent compared to the same month of 2010.
 
In December 2011, Brazil's iron and steel export volume amounted to 648,000 mt, with an increase of 8.2 percent compared to the previous month and up 12.8 percent compared to the same month of 2010, while these exports were valued at $411.5 million, with an increase of 3.6 percent compared to October 2011 and up 36.8 percent year on year.
