Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in October this year industrial production in the country decreased 1.1 percent compared to September, but was down 7.3 percent from October last year. In September, industrial output in Brazil increased by 0.5 percent month on month.
In the first ten months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 7.7 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the tenth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil decreased by 1.9 percent and output of capital goods fell by 2.2 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by 0.4 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved down by 1.2 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods dropped by 0.8 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In October of the current year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 9.1 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 13.6 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers moved down by 6.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-October period of this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 10.7 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 13.9 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers diminished by 15.8 percent, all compared to the same period of 2015.
