Brazil's industrial output declines 4.5 percent in April

Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in April this year industrial production in the country increased 0.6 percent compared to March, but was down 4.5 percent from April last year. 
 
In the first four months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 0.7 percent on year-on-year basis.
 
According to the announcement, in the fourth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 2.1 percent, output of capital goods rose by 1.5 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by 0.4 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 1.9 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.8 percent, all compared to the previous month.
 
In April this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 2.9 percent and machine and equipment output fell by 10.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
