Brazil’s civil construction inflation index rises 0.21 percent in January

Brazil’s civil construction inflation index Sinap increased 0.21 percent in January, month-on-month, after a 0.65 percent increase in December 2014, according to Brazil’s Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Brazil’s civil construction cost per square meter was BRL 915.22 ($330.43) in January.

Out of this total, materials cost accounted for BRL 498.25 ($179.89), while workforce costs represented BRL 416.87 ($150.51) of the total. In December 2014, the nation’s civil construction cost was BRL 913.31 ($329.75), according to IBGE.

Costs related to workforce rose 0.22 percent in January, after increasing 0.84 percent in December 2014. Material costs increased 0.20 percent in January, following a 0.49 percent increase a month ago.
