Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in March this year industrial production in the country decreased 1.8 percent compared to February, but was up 1.1 percent from March last year.
In the first three months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 0.6 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the third month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil decreased by 2.5 percent, output of capital goods fell by 2.5 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by 2.7 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved down by 8.5 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 1.8 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In March this year, Brazil's metal products output increased by 0.5 percent, machine and equipment output fell by 17.6 percent, output of motor vehicles and trailers moved up by 11.2 percent and basic metals output rose 3.6 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
