Brazil’s auto sales may increase steel demand

Brazil's domestic automobile sales rose 8.6 percent year on year to 1.72 million units in 2005. The automobile sales are expected to show an upward trend in 2006, as well. The expected increase in Brazil's automobile sales may give a boost to the country's steel demand. The automobile industry is one of the most steel-demanding sectors in Brazil, especially in the flat steel segment.
