Brazilian steel output increases in January

Brazilian steel production rose 4.9 percent in January as Arcelor Brasil SA and other steelmakers increased output. Brazil's steel output rose to 2.7 million metric tons from 2.58 million metric tons in January 2006. In addition, domestic steel sales rose 9.3 percent as civil and boat construction increased.
