Brazilian iron ore exports up 23.5 percent in H1

According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), the country's iron ore exports in the first half of 2010 rose by 23.5 percent year on year, reaching 129.07 million metric tons.
 
The share of iron ore exports of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the first half of this year reached 89.36 percent and amounted to 115.34 million metric tons, climbing by 17.83 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
 
Meanwhile, in June this year Brazil's iron ore exports amounted to 24.65 million metric tons, declining by 12.73 percent year on year.
 
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in June accounted for 90.09 percent of the country's total iron ore exports, amounting to 22.21 million metric tons, down 17 percent year on year.
