Brazilian auto sales in April declined 25.2 percent year-on-year to 219,252 units, according to data released by the nation’s automotive industry Anfavea.
According to Anfavea, for the cumulative period of January and April sales reached 893,630 units, down 19.2 percent compared to the 1.1 million units sold in the same period.
Anfavea’s president, Luiz Moan, said the current economic conjuncture is still affecting the consumer’s confidence. “The consumer’s and the businessmen’s confidence is, at this moment, one of the main reasons for the complex scenario we currently live in,” he said.
Anfavea’s data show auto production in April also declined, as well as in the four-month period. Production of autos in the fourth month of the year reduced 21.6 percent year-on-year to 217,089 units and 99.9 percent when compared to the fourth-month period of 2014. In the first four months of 2015, Brazil produced 881,774 units.
Auto exports in April reached 28,761 units, down 18.3 percent year-on-year, Anfavea said.
