Brazil ups iron ore exports in August
The mining trade group Sindicato Nacional da Industria da Extracao do Ferro e Metais Basicos (Sinferbase) has disclosed that Brazil's iron ore exports rose 11 percent year on year to 21.62 million metric tons in August. Iron ore giant CVRD accounted for 77 percent of Brazilian iron ore exports in August by shipping 16.57 million metric tons. The Sinferbase said that Brazilian companies shipped 158.8 million metric tons of iron ore in the period from January to August 2006.
