Brazil perspectives for the civil construction segment are pessimistic, a report from the Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) and Sao Paulo union SindusCon-SP said.
In May, the perception of businesses regarding the current performance of their construction companies decreased 9.2 percent year on year and 9.9 percent in the last 12 months.
“The results are in line with the deceleration of the civil construction activity, which was reflected by the small growth of jobs as well as less investments in the economy,” said Sergio Watanabe, president at SindusCon-SP.
According to the union, the evaluation of the industry regarding the improvement of costs increased by 0.3 percent this quarter, year-on-year, and 6.4 percent in the last 12 months.
The indicator that measures financial difficulties remained high at 56.1, signaling it is more expensive and more difficult to get credit for civil construction companies, the report said. If the indicator reaches 50, it means the challenges were higher.
