Brazil sees 15.63 percent decrease in iron ore exports in August

According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), in August this year Brazil's iron ore exports amounted to 25.96 million metric tons, declining by 15.63 percent year on year.
 
The share of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale in Brazil's total iron ore exports in August equalled 90.43 percent, amounting to 23.48 million metric tons, down 17.88 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2010 Brazilian iron ore exports rose by 16.65 percent year on year, reaching 176.14 million metric tons.
 
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-August period of this year reached 89.72 percent, amounting to 158.04 million metric tons, up 13.02 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
