Brazil reduces heavy plate import tariff on supply shortage

The Brazilian industry and foreign trade ministry's commerce chamber, Camex, announced that it has decided to lower the import tariff on heavy plate due to supply shortage in domestic market.

The import tariff on heavy plates will be reduced from 12 percent to two percent for six months for a quota of 18,500 mt. The product is used in pipe production for transporting gas for underwater application.

The product in question currently falls under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Number 7208.51.00.
