Brazil increases iron ore exports

Brazil's iron ore exports rose 3.2% year on year to 19.5 million tons in February 2005 due to the rise in global demand. Iron ore exports totaled 36.2 million tons in the first two months of 2005, up 8.1% year on year. Country's iron pellet exports remained unchanged at 3.8 million ton for February. However, pellet exports rose 7% to 7.5 million tons during January-February 2005 period. Domestic iron ore sales also showed upward trend in February, rising 12% to 2.9 million tons. For the first two months of 2005, domestic sales amounted to 6 million tons, an increase of 5.2%.
