Brazil’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 1.2 trillion reais ($534.8 billion) in the first quarter (Q1) of 2014, the country’s Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said on Friday.

Brazil’s Q1 GPD increased only 0.2 percent compared to the last quarter of 2013, and 1.9 percent year over year. In the last four quarters, the Latin America’s leader GPD reached a 2.5 percent increase.

In line with projections of a low GDP for the civil construction segment, the sector saw a 2.3 percent decrease in Q1, quarter over quarter, and a 0.9 percent increase year on year.
