Turkey's largest steel pipe and tube producer Borusan Mannesmann Boru (BMB) has announced that it will establish a new spiral welded pipe production line in Spain.
BMB, which is one of the leading steel pipe players in Europe, has carried out a progressive investment program since the beginning of 2006 in order to expand competitive strength and capacity in Turkey as well as in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
Within the context of the investment program, BMB has decided to establish a spiral welded pipe production line with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons in Spain due to the increasing demand on energy and infrastructure projects. The new plant, which will be located in Hellin, Spain, is expected to come on stream in the third quarter of 2008. The total investment cost is predicted at $16 million.
BMB CEO Agah Ugur commented, "The investment program, which will increase our efficiency in the automotive, oil and natural gas pipe sectors, will play a critical role in Borusan's globalization strategy. The new spiral welded pipe production line in Spain will enable our company to have a more competitive position in overseas activities."
