Borusan – Umran win Sahdeniz pipeline tender

Turkey's largest pipe producer, Borusan Mannesmann, announced that it, along with their consortium partner Umran , won the tender held to supply the pipes for the second phase of the Sahdeniz natural gas pipeline project. The Sahdeniz pipeline will bring Azerbaijani natural gas to Turkey via Georgia. The second phase will be 114 km long and require 38'000 tons of pipes. Half of the pipes will be produced at Borusan Mannesmann's Boru Izmit plant, while Umran Çelik Boru will produce the other half. The Borusan Mannesman – Umran consortium also won the Turkey-Greece pipeline tender in early 2005. The supplies for these two projects account for 70% of Borusan Mannesman's 2005 spiral pipe production capacity.
