In 2009, Byelorussian Iron and Steel Works (BMZ) registered a six percent decrease year on year in its crude steel output to 2.33 million mt, the Russian information agency Prime-Tass reports.
Accordingly, in 2009 BMZ's rolled steel product output went down by 0.9 percent to 2.01 million mt, its pipe production decreased by 36 percent to 46,574 mt, its metal cord output dropped by 28.6 percent to 68,951 mt, and its production of wire saw a decrease of 19 percent to 169,693 mt, all compared to 2008.
Meanwhile, last year BMZ's total marketable steel product output declined by 4.7 percent year on year to 2.29 million mt, while its total sales for 2009 increased by 5.8 percent year on year to 1.878 million mt, including 1.593 million mt of rolled products - up 11.2 percent, 47,424 mt of pipes - up 27.2 percent, 70,663 mt of metal cord - down 25.8 percent, and 166,730 mt of wire - down 20.3 percent, all compared to 2008.
