Belarus-based Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ) has announced that it has started production at its new wire rod mill. The wire rod mill has an annual capacity of 700,000 mt, with the prospect of an increase to 1 million mt.

BZM said that 75 percent of the production will be exported and domestic sales are expected to substitute imports of wire rod in coils, while meeting 90 percent of domestic demand for straight bars.
