BMZ to begin operating new pipe mill in July

Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ) has announced the successful production of its first round billets and also that it will be putting its new pipe mill into operation on July 3, 2007. 

The new mill will have a capacity of 252,000 metric tons of seamless pipes a year.

BMZ specified that it plans to export 75 percent of all products from the new mill to the Asia-Pacific region, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.

The investment in the project totaled $270 million.
