BMW to increase sales in Asia

German automaker BMW AG expects to better last year's record of 95'482 units sold in Asia by 10-15% in 2005. The company also plans to launch four new models this year, which it hopes will increase sales worldwide 6-9%. While Japan continued to be BMW's largest market in Asia with 51'838 units, the company recorded its highest sales rate in Malaysia. A total of 2'574 BMWs and Minis were sold in Malaysia, up 18.8% compared to the 2'095 units sold in 2003. BMW sold 1.21 million automobiles in 2004, up 9.4% from 2003.
