Bluescope completes blast furnace relining project

Australia's Bluescope Steel (Bluescope) has announced the completion of the relining of its No. 5 blast furnace at Port Kembla in New South Wales (NSW), on which it has been working for the past three years, and states that it is now ready to commission the furnace.

Commenting on the project which was worth a total of AU$370 million, Bluescope Steel chief executive for Australian and New Zealand steel manufacturing businesses, Noel Cornish, said, " No. 5 blast furnace is one of the company's key assets and has served us well in its current 18-year campaign."

Bluescope owns two blast furnaces, the No. 5 and No. 6 blast furnaces, both of which are located at Port Kembla (NSW), Australia.
