BHP may need another expansion

BHP Billiton, the world's third largest iron ore exporter, disclosed that it may need to spend another A$3 billion (around $2.2 billion) expanding its iron ore mines to meet rising global demand. BHP Billiton and its partners are already spending A$3 billion on expansion. BHP Billiton increased annual production at its Western Australian iron ore operations to over 100 million metric tons in 2005. Output at those mines was around 68 million metric tons in 2001.
