BHP Billiton posts strong Q4 results

The world's largest miner Australia-based BHP Billiton Ltd. has announced that in the fourth quarter ended June 30 this year it achieved record output levels of iron ore, copper, aluminum, natural gas, copper, alumina and other major commodities used in steelmaking - due to soaring global demand, primarily coming from China.

For the period in question, BHP Billiton's copper production increased by seven percent to 1.25 million tons, iron ore production increased by eight percent to 98.197 million tons, whereas zinc production increased by nine percent to 118.7 million tons.
