Anglo-Australian miner BHP Billiton has announced the appointment of a new non-executive director, Baroness Shriti Vadera, to the board of BHP Billiton, effective as of January 1, 2011.

Shriti Vadera is expected to bring wide-ranging expertise in finance, economics, and public policy to the BHP Billiton board, as well as extensive experience in emerging markets, the company said.
