BHP appoints new president for manganese

BHP Billiton appointed Peter Beaven as president of its Manganese operations based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Beaven will be responsible for continuing to optimize and grow BHP Billiton's manganese business. Before the appointment, Beaven served as chief development officer for BHP Billiton's Carbon Steel Materials group in Melbourne, Australia, for two and a half years. In the fiscal year ended 30 June 2005, BHP Billiton's manganese business delivered $571 million of earnings before interest and tax from operating assets of $513 million.
